FIKOS, Sovann Macha, Bangkok

FIKOS

It is within the framework of the festival Bukruk Urban Arts in Bangkok that this wall, entitled SOVANN MACHA was painted by Fikos. It represents Sovann Macha, the mermaid of Hindu belief who also appears in the Thai version of the Ramayana. Her name means “golden mermaid”, and her popularity can be noted thanks to her omnipresence throughout Thailand, from tourist items to posters in small stores for good luck. The goal of this wall was to combine the artist’s art with Thai tradition, drawn from long walks through the city in search of inspiration. Walking through the streets, one cannot miss the adoration for the gold of the “City of Angels”. This is why the artist decided to use this color, to illustrate in the best way possible their culture, but adapting it to his personal style.
