Jordan HARANG (RUSS), Continuum – Parcours MIAOU, Bessèges
In October 2021, as part of the “MIAOU” route of the Intercommunal Museum of Open and Urban Art in the Cévennes, located in Bessèges, Gard, visitors had the opportunity to dive into an exceptional artistic experience focused on contemporary urban art. The artist behind this unique creation transformed the urban landscape of Bessèges into a fascinating artistic playground.
Continuum embodies a subtle interplay between background and form, where notions of volume, flatness, and perspective are skillfully explored. This artistic approach aims to question our perception of space and how we apprehend our environment in three dimensions or beyond.
One of the striking features of this installation is the imposing presence of a vegetal mass that rises like a mountain. This representation recalls the reliefs of the Cévennes, visible near the wall. By incorporating this reminder of the local topography, the artist creates a powerful connection between contemporary urban art and the surrounding natural landscape, establishing a dialogue between art and geography.
Continuum in Bessèges allowed visitors to explore the boundaries of spatial perception while celebrating contemporary urban art as a means of dialogue between humans, nature, and the built environment. This artistic experience enriched the local community by offering a new perspective on the interaction between art, culture, and geography in the Cévennes region.
