Jordan HARANG (RUSS), GEYSIR –
Festival Muralis, Dax

“Geysir” is the Icelandic geyser that gave its name to all others, with the term coming from the Icelandic verb “gjósa,” meaning “to erupt.” Here: Eruption/Life Geyser, a blend of organic, mineral, and habitation elements. The similar small houses are a nod to the HLM housing on which I painted. From the outside, all apartments appear identical, like boxes or cube houses. However, inside, we find highly varied worlds, each with its own « cosmos. »

As part of the thermal city of Dax’s festival, with the overarching theme being “Water,” visitors had the opportunity to discover a unique artistic work titled “Geysir.” This creation draws inspiration from the famous Icelandic geyser that lent its name to all others, with the term “geyser” originating from the Icelandic verb “gjósa,” meaning “to erupt.” The artist interpreted this concept of “eruption” as a genuine geyser of life, blending organic, mineral, and residential elements.

The central element of this artistic composition consists of a series of small houses, all appearing similar, playfully nodding to the HLM housing on which the artist painted. From the outside, each apartment resembles a box or a cube house, maintaining a uniform appearance. However, the artist invites us to explore the interiors of these dwellings, where we discover extraordinary worlds, each with its own unique “cosmos.”

Within these houses, diversity reigns, symbolizing the richness of life and the experiences that each individual harbors within themselves. Each interior serves as a metaphorical representation of the uniqueness of each person, their dreams, thoughts, and inner world.

The work “Geysir” thus explores the duality between the uniform external appearance and the profound internal diversity of humanity. It serves as a reminder that behind every facade lies a complex and unique world, a personal “cosmos” waiting to be discovered
